SUR L'OEUVRE :
Une dernière fois, la Méditerranée clôt la trilogie ouverte en 2015 par Larchitecture des temps instables et prolongée, en 2019, par Leonardo. On retrouvera donc les Nardelli de Mrs Haroy ou la mémoire de la baleine devenus Rossi au
fil de l'écriture, ainsi que les thèmes de prédilection de Jean Portante : la migration, la guerre, le brassage générationnel, les secrets enterrés dans les couches du temps, lhabile amalgame entre fi ction et autobiographie. Avec, cette fois-ci, un détour par les mythes fondateurs du voyage et de l'exil.
SUR L'AUTEUR :
Jean Portante est né en 1950 à Differdange (Luxembourg), de parents italiens. Il vit à Paris. Son œuvre, riche d’une quarantaine de livres – poésie, romans, essais, pièces de théâtre. En France, il est membre de l’Académie Mallarmé et à Luxembourg, de l’Institut Grand-ducal. En 2003, lui a été attribué, en France, le Prix Mallarmé pour son livre L’étrange langue. Dix ans plus tôt, son roman Mrs Haroy ou la mémoire de la baleine lui avait valu le Prix Servais du meilleur livre de l’année au Luxembourg. Prix qui lui a été attribué une deuxième fois, en 2016, pour son roman L’architecture des temps instables. En 2011, il a été couronné du Prix national Batty Weber au Luxembourg, pour l’ensemble de son œuvre. Ses livres sont publiés essentiellement chez Phi. Les livres parus chez PHI sont presque tous traduits dans d’autres langue.

Ce que j’ignorais cependant, au moment de commencer ce livre, c’est que chercher le père signifie avant tout trouver le fils.
